Paintings

Bars in Rotterdam

Painting live in the bars, Madeleine can absorb a real atmosphere and catch a special moment, movement or situation that touches her. More than portraits of bars, this series is a pretext to speak about the special significance of these places of exchange and communication or poignant, reflective solitude.

The cafes of Brussels

Live paintings done in the cafes frequented in her youth. These sites were revisited and inhabited through many long hours during which the artist absorbed the atmosphere, ever conscious of the social significiance of these places of exchange and communication or poignant, reflective solitude.

” The ‘Bistrots Bruxellois” series is a mature and compassionate insight into the emotional reality of the Belgian cafe culture.” (L.Keep, Gallerist)
